Default 06 Civic EX - Throttle Lag

I'm experiencing what I'm guessing to be a throttle lag in my new 06 Civic EX automatic. It seems slow to respond as press down on the pedal and has an overall sluggish feeling. My friend has the same exact model and hers is quick, peppy, very responsive to the pedal, no lag what-so-ever. I also noticed a difference as soon as I turned the ignition, feels like the engine idle is slightly higher than mine. I brought this to the attention of the dealer when I had it serviced the other day. They said the throttle cable might be sticking and need lubrication, but didn't end up doing it "because it's hard to get to and would take some time". So basically, they did nothing for me. Any ideas/suggestions to remedy this problem?

You need to find yourself a new dealer, the 2006's are drive by wire. There's no cable, so your dealer is dumb.... and the lag is pretty typical of the electronic system, it needs to pick up the movement and process if first, there's a momentary delay. You can see if there's a software update for the computer or a recalibration procedure they can do.

Interesting...I was thinking along that line, that it might need to be recalibrated. The car's so new, updates might not be available yet. I'll check into it, and also try different dealer(there's many to chose from here). Thanks for the input.

weird. if there is in fact a problem. you're right, it will probably be awhile before a tsb (or recall, if safety related) is released. good luck!

that is true and if you want be the first on the block to do it Sport Compact Car used a skunk 2 rsx throttle body to get rid of the drive by wire and used k-pro and modified the bracket on the TSX to use only throttle cable

Yeah good **** because drive-by-wire throttle SUCKS! Thats one of the parts of the car that i REALLY want a mechanical linkage to control. like the brakes, i'll do them myself, I'll steer myself, I'll shift myself, thanks Honda very much, but I'll be driving today.
