Default Should I or shouldn't I?????

Ok I did a search and just found one or the other plus I got stuff that led me all in the wrong places. SO any help would be great and if I put this in the wrong forum then I am sorry.

Ok my question is. I have a 97 ls and the trany is OK not on the bad side but I think it needs work. What i wann know is if I should rebuild it or if i should swap out the ls and put in a B16 tranny or TYpe_R tranny. The only reason for this is cause i was told by many a hoda-tech guys that the ls tranny does not like to be pushed,.
What do I do any help would be great. I just want it to be a good street car with over 2oohp thanx

The B16 and ITR have better ratios and final drives. Do you want your LS to rev that much higher? How much is the rebuild?

i think when everything is said and done it would be a better investment in the long run to get a B16 or ITR tranny for the positive things Dogginator mentioned. when i say a better investment in the long run i mean if you might want to run a turbo, SC, or a really crazy all motor setup. just my .02

Tell your honda tech guys that the LS tranny can be 'pushed' all you want. The gearing is long thats all, and puts a hurtin on mild NA setups in the acceleration/drag racing department, but on the hwy, it shines when cruising.

But they can handle some abuse, just ask the turbo guys, they put alot of torque thru the tranny, and it holds up well. I still have my original tranny in my RS, 286K miles and barely has any grindage only near redline.
