My car is Idleing funny sometimes. Its not all the time but sometimes its does it like when i come to a light and stop it will do it or if i go to park in a spot it will also do it. The CEL came on and i ran a code on it and it said the EGR valve. Could this be the problem or not?

 

It could be. Maybe just the gasket on it is worn out. The pipe to it is cracked/leaking? What was the code number?

 

I think its code 12. and im not sure if the pipe is leaking. and its OBD1

 

if im not mistaken the egr valve is only opened when the throttle is opened. I would clean out the egr valve anyway if your pulling that code and see if it helps any. but most of the time your idle problem will be related to a bad or clogged iacv, so maybe clean that out too. Both are fairly easly jobs.

 

some times the EGR gets stuck open, I would disconnect the hose and plug it then see if it still continus. I think that thats the prloblem because it is dumping exhaust gasses to you intek side. causing it ti miss fire or hesitate.

 

dont trip if the CEL comes right up. that is telling you that the EGR is not working. just drive it for a cople of dayes to see if it dosnt Idle funny agen. If it dosent the EGR is you problem.
