I have been working on this problem for a couple days now and still havent figured it out. The honda has the original d16z6 engine in it and it is ideling at 100 rpm. When you give it gas it putters but is still drivable. Every once in a while it backfires really loud. Could this be that my timing is off or maybe a sensor going out? When you rev it up, it sounds fine... it just goes back down to about 100 rpm and the lights on the dash flash like it died...but it didnt.. its just barely ideling. Let me know what you all think...thanks

 

i checked the spark plugs and they came out black.....there is also a lot of black smoke coming out of the exhaust....its the air/fuel ratio.. i know that... so could it be the ECU or the O2 sensor on the downpipe????
