Default Removing freon

I have searched on this topic. I know it is illegal to have the gases go into the athmosphere but the motor is apart and the car cant be moved. So is there any easy or "safe" way to remove this stuff without harming myself. Also, can i put it in any old plastic container or will it eat it away? I MUST remove this stuff tonight, in about 8 hrs, so plz help me out!!!!

It is illegal to let it out but i believe 134a is safe for the atmosphere. Just let it out and try not to breathe to much of it in

i believe there is a valve(like a tire valve) that will allow you to release it. Why not take it to a shop they will only charge $10 to remove it.

there should be somewhere you can call and a guy will come and take it out for you, a gauge set and a approved container would be needed, No a plastic bottle will not work, you could probably get away with just releasing it into the air as hondas dont contain much gas. If caught though its i believe a 25,000 dollar fine or possibly 3-5 years in jail, usually for first time they would just give a warning though.

go ahead and do it. the bush administration has been waiting for some idiot to release chemicals into the atmosphere. once thats done, the sensors placed around the city will detect it and then a state of emergency will be called.

the media will tell everyone that there’s a code red and that some Islam mother ****** released chemicals into the atmosphere. luckily, he left his id and passport on the ground next to the bottle of freon and we found out that he is a sleeper cell from Iran.

then an all out war will be called upon and ur dumb *** will called upon to fight those Iranians.

Syria is next.

all i ever do when i pull motors is loosen the AC hardline coupling nut and leave the area for a few minutes. you'll know when its loose enough cuz it will start to hiss. just make sure you're not doing it in an enclosed space. its not tough or dangerous as long as you're not standing over it and breathing it in.

I did it when I did my motor swap, all you do is loosen one of the bolts (doesnt really matter what one) and let it depressurize, just leave the area for like 10 min. easy

you'll more likely get fined if you work in a shop releasing R134 into the atmosphere. R134a refrigerant IS harmful to the atmosphere but not as harmful as the older refrigerant R12.

i have to warn you though, try not to leave the a/c unserviced for a long period of time. once you let the refrigerant out (the illegal way) you introduce moisture into the system. this can cause rust in the lines and other components in the system if left unattended for too long. then you must go to a shop to have the system vacuumed out to remove moisture.

i wouldn't bother trying to re-collect the refrigerant because any teg in general does not use any more than 2 lbs. of freon. usaully r134a freon goes for 15-20 bucks a pound.

oh yeah, btw DO NOT BREATHE that ****!!! very toxic for us (and environment)!! when you inhale a bit kinda feels like a mad hit of weed-can't stop coughing!! lol
