cheap exhaust parts vs name brand
im browsing ebay looking for some new exhaust parts for my 93 acc LX (mine has a big leak somewhere, sounds like ****)
Ive never bought aftermarket exhaust parts so i dont know much about them at all.
Anyways, im seeing the name brand cats and they are ungodly expensive, and i see the cheaper ones like OBX which are more in my pricerange.
Whats the major differences, sound wise, performance wise, durability? Should i just stick to an OEM cat? (i have no emissions checks in NC)
With the headers that are listed on ebay, im seeing DC-S and DC sport, i know about dc sport and i know alot of people use them. is the DC-S the same thing?
as far as mufflers go, i dont even know where to start. I just want to get a catback system, but i dont want a loud *** fart can. I wanna stick to a 2.5 inch or smaller piping (im not shooting grapefruits) and i cant afford much.....(doesnt leave much room for looking does it)
Right now the main things im looking for are Cat and catback system (the header can wait)
All comments, flames, funny photoshop pictures are welcome. just looking for opinions

OBX is pretty much the low end of the stuff, almost all of their stuff is a copy of something else, it might be a good thing for someone.

there's too much to list, megan or kteller(you can reach him from here) seems to be the cheaper altenative.
the thing about no name exhaust is that, the maker wouldn't spend any money to do testing with the goverment. so what does it mean? it means that when you get pull over by cops, it's a modified exhaust ticket or too loud ticket, almost 100% of the time. the brane name exhaust like greddy, dc, thermo, apexi all been tested and passed all requirment(emisson, db level, etc)
Please left your cat on, the gain is very little and you'll have a cel and constant headache when you stop for a red light idling and inhaling all the fumes.

is JP morgan and JP morganZ the same?
those are the tipical ebay seller trick to pass their no name product as something else.
in short, they are not.
if you still don't believe me, go call AEM and see if they just open a new line called DC-S

2.5 inch pipe is pretty opened up, i doubt you'll need it. i was running 2.5 straight when i still had my turbo on. 2.25 is a good number for mild n/a.

thanks, i know about kteller.
i want a 2.25 inch but all i can find is 2.5
im not taking off my cat, so dont worry bout that.
DC-s not DC- sport....scratch that idea, ill just grab an EX header and be done with it (i hear they are just as good)
i might just go pickup a new OEM cat if its not too much.
which leaves me to find a 2.25 in catback that is of decent price but not shitty sounding.....ideas?
i will try classifieds as well, just i havent gotten paid yet and have rent due soon, so looking through classifieds probable wont help me too well untill i have the money saved up.

I heard Tsudo isn't all that bad for the 220 price range. My friend has it on his car, and with the silencer it is just about as loud as my Megan without the silencer. He hasn't had any rust problems or anything either. There are a lot of exhausts for sale on CB7Tuner for sale too... I'd try there.
Mmm i Have Tsudo N1 4.5 inch tip check out the pics on this thread it sounds pretty decent altho since i have one of those test pipe cats it makes it sounds pitchy when it gets to a certain RPM overall the exhaust is good and the quality is great and it cheap too! so if u go with the N1

and its nice looking and when u get tired of the roaring loudness put the silencer on it

thanks for the replies anyways.
