Default Installed Russell fuel filter line, did I do it correct? Pic included

So I bought this line from Summit Racing, this is the Fuel Filter Line and it came with 4 washers. 3 are the same, and 1 is bigger with 6 little teeth inside, like your oil pump gear.

So at first, I installed the line with 2 washers at the fuel filter and used the other 2 washers at the fuel rail (1 small one and 1 big one with teeth) then I constantly smell fuel coming inside the cabin, well not all the time, but I do smell it. Then I checked the connection and it was a big damping. Not dripping fuel but just a bit wet on the surface. Then I recall that there was no washer at the fuel rail end so I took those 2 out.

Now, it is just a ted damp, just a little bit. There was no instruction so I am not sure if I installed it correctly in terms of which end goes to which end. Also, the opening at the fuel rail seems to be smaller for stock fuel filter line and the aftermarket fitting (the little stem after the 'O' ring) won't fit into it, hence I installed it like what is shown in the photo - towards the throttle plate.

Opinions? Did I install it correctly? Do I need washer(s) at the fuel rail side?

Many thanks

The 4 washers are actually crush washers, meant to make the seal.

The one washer with teeth goes between the nut on the fuel rail and the fuel line. Its meant to feed fuel to the dampner that's a part of the nut.

The difference is that the later models do not have the Pulse dampener nut. If you look at some intergras they do not have the "big white nut" but just a small one.
