i have a 89 si and was getting a code 4. I replaced the distributor and cleared the code still didn't work. Then i put in a new ecu and cleared the code still didn't work does any one have any idea of what i could try. the motor is all stock

 

are you talking about the crank angle sensor?

you have to splice the wire for that sensor into the other postion sensor...forgot what its called, its the one in the distributor

 

do i have to do this in the distributor or the ecu?

sorry i misread the post, i thought you put a diferent engine in and it wasnt running right...but if that sensor is bad you have to find out what color the wire is for that sensor, then just splice into that wire anywhere
