hold on a minute...so your SOHC d-series tranny came with a intermidate shaft ????? ive only heard of dohc ZC trannys that came with intermidate shaft (the Differential is bigger then then the sohc d-series tranny).
...and AWD civic wagons

i've ran two SOHC ZC's both with an intermidate shaft. It uses LS axles bolts right up.
now im gettin a USDM SOHC d16a6 and i want to know if i can use my intermediate shaft with the a6 block and a6 tranny.

youre going to need a dohc ZC tranny or at least the dohc differential to use the intermediate shaft.
the bolt holes on the engine are there on A6 and sohc ZC.

the a6 on the all-wheel drive wagon has an intermediate shaft... U guess im just gonna have to try it. Thanks for all the input
i have a zc intermediate shaft, i've been using the ZC tranny though.. If the shaft will fit in the SI tranny then everything should be find, because the bolts are tapped. Lemme know if someone has done it...

the ZC shaft doesnt fit in the Si tranny. thats why im trying to tell you.
what you CAN do is use the differential from the ZC tranny and put it in the Si tranny. it will work fine. you should swap out the final drive ring gear as well. take note, those bolts on the diff are reverse threaded. so back them out the other direction.

How hard is it to replace the diff??? I've pulled apart quite a few motors and done clutch and a couple swaps, but i have never pulled apart a tranny..
im sure you can do it, just gotta try. you gotta have the tranny off the engine tho.
snap ring plier is a MUST.
other than that, a mallet is the only other special tool involved.
you dont even have to take apart the gears to swap diffs. but im guessing youd end up taking apart the gear assembly anyway for kicks, i would.

cool man, im deffinitally gonna try it. And the ZC tranny i have is crap so yeah im deffinitally gonna take it full apart just for the experiance.
Hmmm.. So pretty much i just have to open the case and pop the diff out with the mallet? lemme know if their is any threads that would kinda give me a general idea. thanks a lot for your help

(you can thank jlicrx who responded first for this one.) you should consider making a hybrid tranny...
