It's illegal, you won't see too many.

the main difference is the valve cover and intake manifold. Otherwise, just about identical from a pic of the engine bay.

How could there be? The heads share ALL identical dimentions besides the dizzy, the blocks are virtually the same in & out, the manifolds bolt up to either head, the valve covers swap between the two perfectly. The only dimentional difference is the shape of the intake/exhaust manifolds, the valve cover logo, and the dizzy bolt pattern.

And it's only illegal if the athorities give a damn. Around here, all they care about/give tickets for are tint and mufflers. I've never heard of anyone in WI getting their hood popped by a cop.

The harness wil be different because the Z6 is OBD1 and the Y8 is OBD2 so your going to need a conversion harness or convert the car back to OBD1 which is why its illegal to do so. You have to have the same yr motor in the car that it came with or newer, you cant go backwords, nor can you put a truck motor in there either it has to be a car motor.

If you do a search on obd conversions that should answer your questions on the harness, I just woke up otherwise Id help you with it Its pretty simple to do. theres I think maybe 2 or 3 sensors different.

If the mounts are differnt you have to use the one from the Y7 then I belive so it will bolt up to the block, hopefully it will mount up to its counterpart on the car otherwise that will have to be switched as well, I belive Im not 100% sure on this.

I wasn't implying that it was the same in terms of mounts and wiring. I was saying the FIT is the same. As in physical demensions and how it sits in the engine compartment. Does that help to clarify my point?

Itll work, but cause one is a 96 car, you'll have to convert it to OBD-II. Enjoy that.
