Windshield star
Anyone have experience fixing windshield nicks. It's very small (star). If there is an easy way, I would like to do it myself. The glass shop says it doesn't need to be fixed, because it did not go all the way through the glass. Damn rocks!
There are Do-It-Yourself kits out there that you can purchase,
I (myself) have used "Glass Doctor" whenever one showed up on my windshield. They would come to the house and fix it there, while I sat inside sucking down coffee.
Don't believe your glass shop. If it's low on the windshield, I'd expect it to spread if you ever had to fire up the defroster on a cold winter morning. (Well.....as cold as it gets in Louisiana anyway

Well it's kind of the middle of the windshield as far as up and down and a little to the left of center of sight. I can't feel anything on the inside. I doubt they have a service like that around here. How much did it cost you? Did it make it invisible? If you didn't do it yourself, I sure don't want to try it, and maybe screw up my whole windshield over a tiny star. It doesn't sound too easy from the little I've read so far.
don't wait for the glass to start cracking...call up the local windshield repair /replacement place The will probably use 'pit resin' to repair the nick and then the windshield won't start cracking. Cost probably around $35 ....much less than $150 for a new windshield. If at all possible have the car inside and the windshield over 70 degrees for the repair to work faster/easier.
I actually repair windshields myself. Actually, my boss sent me to michigan to get trained. I have all the equipment to repair stars, bulls eyes, and other small imperfections. If you see a little bit of black in the damage, then it has a little bit of air in it. It needs to be sucked out, then resin must be injected into the damage via the pit ( small hole where the rock hit the glass) as long as the legs on the star haven't spread, your windshield can still be saved. In this case, a good repairman can literally make the damage disappear. All you should see is a clear flat bubble where the star once was. Bearly noticable. I would recommend you get another pro with more experience to look at it and fix it for you. It should range anywhere from 25-35 dollars.

My insurance is going to cover it (with no cost to me) an appointment is going to be made tomorrow. I went to one glass shop and the guy told me that the hole was not all the way through the glass, and didn't need to be fixed. But all I do is stare at the damn thing the whole time I'm driving. I want it fixed.
