This one is hard to explain. So let me try to do so the best that I can. My windshield looks like it's pitted. I tried windshield cleaning products and a glass scraper to try to remove the spots. No matter how hard I try, the spots are still there.

When I get glare from the low sun, I can't see **** out of my window because all I see are the spots.

When I gets humid and it rains at night and my windows fog up. The spots get worse and I can't get rid of them with heat/AC. Using wipers helps when they sweep past but make it worse when they come back down.

What can I do to fix this other than replacing the windshield? Is there a glass polishing compound? Any tricks to get rid of this problem? Or should I just spend close to $200 for a brand new windshield. This is really annoying.

Bring it to a glass shop and see if they can polish it out. Unless sand etched it, it should be able to be saved.

 

Most times it more cost effective to replace the windshield. Its only around 130-150 for a window to be replaced.

 

Use a rotary buffer with a glass polishing pad and a glass polishing product that contains cerium oxide. That's the only way you'll remove any defects.

 

Thats more for scratches then pit's... Once again its not exspensive to replace a windshield, also you can check for rust forming in that area.

 

The pitting is so annoying in the late afternoon sun. I can't find glass compound at the local AutoZone. I'm going to try car wax on a small section on the far upper right of the windshield. If it works, I'll do the rest. If it doesn't, I'll try a little harder in finding that glass compound. I may just get a new windshield eventually but it's not in the cards right now. I can get a windshield with the tint strip across the top in it already. Thanks everyone for your input.
