How to remove turn signal arm assembly
I have a 1994 Honda Accord sedan.
I have a turn signal that has been clicking to its own beat for two years. No bulbs are out. I've swapped out the module under the dash and it still malfunctions. Sometimes it clicks at 2x or 3x. Sometimes not at all. Sometimes, when the arm is in neutral position, it will still double click on its own for hours. It usually gets better when the car is warm, and it malfunctions more in cold weather.
So, I have decided to try to replace the arm assembly on the steering wheel column. I've located a new assembly at a local Honda junkyard.
I've disconnected the battery and taken off the upper and lower covers on the steering wheel column. Access to the screws that appear to hold the assembly seem to be blocked by the steering wheel itself. Do I have to take off the steering wheel? If so, how do I do that (safely)?
Any suggestions? Thanks.

I think you can turn the steering wheel and get to the screws, then the switch unit is 'clipped' in and it's a trial to get it out. I think it swivels at the bottom as you get it out? It's been awhile since I've changed one.
