Default wondering about the sirius magnetic antenna

my friend claims that his xm antenna sratched up his trunk where its placed on the trunk. i can't say whether he's tellin the truth or not cause i dnt see the car all the time. does anyone know if this is true and if it is true is there a way to prevent scratching, cause i dnt want scratches all over my trunk.

The only way I have seen the antennas scratch a vehicle is if the car was taken
through a car wash with brushes or cloths!!! As lond as you hand wash or do
"touchless" washes you should be okay.

Yeah, that or one of the new "laser" washes, where it's just a bunch of jets on a robotic arm (no brushes or cloth strips)...

However, I'd be careful with those, too, because those jets are really powerful...

What I'd do: When I install the antenna, leave some slack inside the trunk (6 inches) and when you go through the wash, pull off the antenna and tuck it in the trunk, then put it back on when you're done.

i put my xm antenna inside on the dashboard. no problems with receptions, you might want to try that

Sorry, but no. It needs to see the satellites... Through glass generally works okay (unless you've got tint or other coatings) but it won't work through sheet metal...
