okay, so my car has been in a barn up on jacks since late november. before i put her to bed for the winter she got a fresh oil change and some fuel additive to keep the gas from going bad (same thing i did last year). i just went out to start her for the first time today, and to my surprise, it won't start. the engine is turning over, but it sounds like there is some metal on metal action going on. i put the battery back on the charger, cause i'm thinking it might not have been fully charged. but that still leaves me with those awful enging noises. has all the oil run off of everything? is it going to destroy my engine if it does catch?
it's only about -5 out today, so i don't think the cold has anything to do with it.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

 

Are you getting any spark? I know it may not be the problem, but I would go ahead and check all plugs and plug wires as well as the cap and ignitor.

Also, your main relay may be bad as well.

 

plugs are brand new, as for the rest i'm not really sure. they all look okay, no cracks nothing loose, but beyond that i'm not really sure how to check them properly.

 

okay, a little update..

just went back out to try and start it again. i managed to get it going, but there was a high pitch squeeling, idled roughly for a few seconds, then stalled.. and a little plume of white smoke rose up from the alternator.

did i just blow my engine? or just my alternator?
what would have made my engine sieze up like this? it's only been about a month/month and half since it was last running.
