Lack of oil, blades making contact with the housing. Pull of your feed line and make sure its getting oil.

I just went through this and it was that I smoked my turbo from lack of oil....Wheels started to hit the housings...Then the seals went, and Lotsa smoke ensued. Take off the air filter and grab the shaft. check for play. Mine was wasted...and it was BRAND NEW (Wanted to blame it on being an ebay turbo, but it was my expletive up), oh well all better now. It sounded like a pissed off terradactle...but whgen it went into boost, and then started drawing vacuum, and bucking and screaming and **** I knew it was bad. Check tyour charge pipes, and check the shaft play.. I know its shityy, but its probably fucked up.

huh.. well that could be a GOOD THING!!! or maybe just that it hasnt gotten bad enough yet, but the squeeling (I would think) is the wheeels hitting either of the housings.
Im sorry, I really dont know what to say bro....

Hope your outcome is better than mine was!!!

Good luck!!!

its not making any cling noise, like metal against metal, its just "hmmmmm"...and there is oil feeding into the turbo. and the return line is fixed..and evetyihg is flowing...there is no play in the shaft...but the howling noise is sitll present...u can only hear it when the car is warm/ hot, when it is cold it sound normal...any idea wats the problem?

It's a wheel rubbing on a housing, dude. You aren't going to hear "clicking" when the wheel is spinning at 20,000 RPM.

normally, like noted above, a "howling" is a wheel rubbing the housing at speed.

go look at the inside of the housing. if its not covered with oil you shoudl be able to see a dull ring where the fins would be.

so wat are you guys saying? and no the turbine isnt filled with oil...is this rubbing normal? and u should be able to hear clinging noise..even though its at 20000 rpm, its metal against metal. there has to be some type of loud noise

we're sayin your turbos shot and it not balanced and the compressor ( intake) wheel is rubbing the housing. thus you dont build boost and your turbos broken and trash

0 shaft play is just as bad

it also could be the hot side hitting.. grab the shaft and pull it towards the housing, then twist and feel to see if its hitting

my friend got robed on a brand new 500.00 t3/t4 off ebay.... he learned his lesson. the thing howled like an owl being raped!! I'm not downing ebay or your turbo... but becareful who you buy from... my friend also didnt' get his money back... the company stiffed his a$$ and refused to settle.

that turbo also has metal shavings all over the inards when we pulled it out..... the shitty thing about it... was some of those shavins got threw the oil return line and ended up in his motor. which we had to clean.....

means your turbo is fucked and needs a new blade and rebalance and new seals.
