b16a1(y1) tranny into eg...what axles would I be able to use?
hey guys, I'm picking up a y1 JDM LSD transmission and I have a friend with some axles off of his 1st gen B16a1. Would that axles work on my 5th gen coupe? I know they will work on an EF but what about EG?
if not...what axles would I need to use?
if not...what axles would I need to use?
YES. Any time a B Series engine is placed into what was once a D-series engined car, example, a B series of any designation such as B18A1, B18B1, B18C1, B18C, along with a B-Series compatible tranny such as S80, YS1, Y1, S1, ANY 1990-2001 B Series Integra shafts or B Series engine shafts will work. I am using the same shafts from my EF8 1988 CRX that had my B16a1 and S1 tranny into my 1992 EG CX, which is also the same layout as the 5th gen coupe....
Yes. Good to go.
BTW....ALL of B18C5-EH2 swap instruction's, guidelines, found in the FAQ's would have helped in this situation. He IS a Honda guru!

that is true, depending on what intermediate shaft you have.
You might need a male or female ended drivers side axle

ALL of those Series of trannies run the same/similar intermediate shafts....the only time the intermediate shaft changes is when the series changes to for instance an H or F or even D series engine for that matter. S80, YS1, S1, Y1 are ALL B engine series trannies, and ALL have the same intermediate shafts, and WILL ALL run the same outer drive shafts....
He's Good to go with this swap.

It DOES NOT.
Search function is all of your friend. I'm runnin a S1 Cable tranny, in a hydro car at this moment, with 1990-2001 B Series Integra shafts. The ONLY factor that makes the difference is your H22, F22, F20, D15, D16 TRANNIES. ALL B series engines AND THEIR accompanying trannies AND Intermediate shafts, whether CABLE or Hydro, WILL run in 1988-2001 Civics, whether Coupes, hatches, or sedans! End of story. Use the Search function, B18C5-EH2 FAQ's, and your various swap sites. The info's out there, and these are the facts, I'm runnin this swap right now in an EG.
