Default Auto Transmission Question

i have a '90 Accord Ex auto 193,000 miles and when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd the rpm's jump 200-500 if i put my foot into in it but i drive like a grandpa it shift fine. i just had a shifting soleniod put on (the bottom one) and it did the same before and after. I just want to know if my tranny may be going. I haven't done a tranny flush yet but im planning on doing ok soon.

Thanks

your 2nd gear may be slipping and if it is, you are going to have to rebuild your trans

If it slips during a 2-3 up-shift, but doesn't during a 3-2 downshift; the third (3d) gear range Clutch Pack is slipping.
What's the condition of your Transmission Fluid? If it's brown and has an obvious odor, it has been overheated and the fluid has oxidized.
A trans fluid POWER FLUSH will not hurt, and if the problem is caused by a stiff clutch seal; it might actually help.
If you elect to have the power flush done, have them drain the old fluid first so that you might inspect it. A heavy concentration of brownish red mud is indicative of worn clutch material in the fluid, metal filings is a definite no-no,
If none of this is present, go ahead and do the flush
.

Boy, you're up early!
Honda won't cut you some slack on the tranny?

nah cause I didn't have the service records and that is what they needed. It would have cost me the same either way cause they said if I had service records they would go 50/50.

I am up early cause I am working. I work a rotating shift. I work 6 weeks days 6a-6p Sun to Tue and every other Wednesday and then I switch to nights for 6 weeks working Sun to Tue and every other Saturday.

Since the tranny was gone on the car I got it for 6K trans cost me 2.1k so I got it for slightly under retail (KBB shows 9125 for a 1998 LXV6 in excellent cond) so 8100 it was I originally made the deal for $7K but decided to take the car as is and fix the trans and get a warranty on it.

Yeh, You're still on the plus+ side of the bell curve; but it would have left a better 'taste' if Honda had stepped up to the plate...., not to mention a smaller hole in your wallet.
Sounds like you got it covered. Nice Ride

Even with the messed up trans my friend could not keep up in her V6 camry...she was slightly jealous........

Edit: Nice thing about the LX V6 it's FAST and does not have a lot of extra weight
