2.2L SOHC swap anyone?
http://www.craigslist.org/sby/car/122906453.html
Been seeing this car on CL for a while now with a 2.2L SOHC VTEC borrowed from an Accord. It's probably the only one with this swap and probably for good reasons.... But for $700 and all the little things I notice (no driver's seat rip), someone has to want this thing.
Sorry for my lack of tech

Although there is certainly nothing wrong with the F22A, the reason nobody does it is the work involved. This swap is much like an H-series swap in that some cutting and welding is inevitable. It is by no means simple. And pretty much anybody who is willing to do the work is just going to step up to the H22A to make it all more worthwhile.
I was thinking this motor would be able to rival the B18a1, with its displacement and VTACK versus the 1.8's dual cams. It would probably boil down to the gearing.
If someone does buy this, sell me those rimz0rz

personally, i would say go for it, only because aside from the fact that you'll be buying an f22 CRX, what you are essentially getting is an h22 ready CRX. all you would need to do now is get an h22 motor and bolt it up.

Think of it this way - buy an accord with a bad motor, this car, and an H22. Fix the accord with the f22, then put the h22 in the crx. I would only find a problem with the iron vs aluminum block, not the fact it's a 'weak' f22. If he was local I'd buy it.
BTW I remember not too long ago, someone was making an all-out f22 crx. Boost, slicks, fiberglass front end.

lol, I keep seeing this add pop up like everyday, but I'm scared to buy it because I know they must've hacked the mounts and wiring to **** by now and the weather probably got to it already. Looks like a lost cause.

That thing would make a pretty quick car, but the condition doesn't look too good. I can see if it ran the way it should, being faster than a b18c1 swap PROBABLY. F22b1 motors are pretty torqy for honda motors and move heavy *** accords on a daily basis, plus it has more HP than b18b motors.

I wouldn't say its a pointless swap at all. Its an extremely cheap swap. You can find F22's in salvage yards in good condition all day long for a few hundred dollars. Same thing goes for the transmission. You can mate up any F22, H23, or H22 trans to get the perfect gear setup. I would take a good bet that its faster than an LS swap. GSR swap...nah..maybe not. But on top of all this....the F22 block. Iron sleeves and closed deck. F22's have a cult following for crazy folk putting stupid amounts of boost on stock engines. If they blow it...they don't feel too bad as they have another swap sitting there they paid close to nothing for. If you were to forge the internals....throw a very good amount of boost at it without worry of the cylinders cracking. The only downside to the F22 swap is it is identical to the H22 swap as far as mount setup and whats needed. You will lose A/C just as you will with the H22 swap. But as far as comparing cost of a F22 swap vs. a H22 swap. Huge difference in cost. Spend the same amount and have a fully built F22 and have money leftover to begin putting together a nice turbo kit or just throw on a ridiculous amount of spray. You get a lot more for the money.
