Other than taking it out, and taking it apart there is no real way of telling. If your car is starting, and then immediately dying, that could be a sign too. Also, when you CEL goes off.. You should hear a 'click' noise, that's your main relay clicking. If you don't hear it, it's not functoning correctly.

Yes, I do hear a click when my CEL comes on. However, earlier when I was taking out my rims to put the stock wheels back on. I putted my key in the ignition to the point where I can listen to the stereo, after I have finished(about 30min). I try to turn my car on, it wouldn't start. So, I came in the house for about 10 min. Went back out to try and start it agian, it started. Can anyone tell me what's the problem?

is it a tick or a ticktickticktick? are you sure its coming from the passenger side... This sort of thing happened to my last car and turned out it was the main relay like you said but if it clicks after the CEL goes off then it should be working...

I know this is a totally different car but on my crx, I wouldnt hear a tick, the cel was coming on like normal, the ecu was working, but the fuel pump wasnt working, I have fpg to tell me that. I changed the main relay go to go. Just a little info. I dont know about the newer car I havent yet had a problem with my 00 hatch
