Ok Guys, Need some help choosin block/crank for LS Vtec setup
Ok, heres my predicament...
I have a b18a block that I just took in to get machine work done on, and when they checked the cylinders, he said that it needs to be bored out quite a bit... My crank is perfect he said...
I originally wanted to keep STD bore with my block, just to be stronger..
I have a set of eagle rods for a b18 block..
So heres my question, should I rip apart a b17 block I have kickin around, that has a spun bearing... and use my b18a crank and rods in IT,
OR..... Bore my b18 block out to correct those bad cylinder walls?

Yes. Don't get hung up on wanting standard bore so bad, Evans has made 600+ WHP on 81.5mm blocks, so I think you'll be fine.

More than fine. I wouldn't ever run a STD bore on a block unless it was brand new from Honda. It is better to have a little thinner sleeves and a true straight bore than thick sleeves with an oval effect going on.
Buy some 81.5mm pistons bring them to the machine shop and have them bore out each cylinder to each matching piston. You won't regret the extra effort.
