Really Really unusal!.. NEED HELP.
Ok, so im driving in my 96 Accord and.. im going maybe..mm..40mph.. when all of a sudden my.. speedometer gauge goes from 40 to 0 and then goes back and forth maybe about..5-6 times. Check engine light does not come on.. and it goes back to normal. I drove the car around for maybe..20 minutes after that had happend and it seems to be working fine. Anyone know what that meant or why it did that?
I suspect, if it happens again you'll be looking at replacing the Cluster Assembly.
If it had been either the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) or the ECM (Engine Control Module), it would have set a code, the lamp would have come on and other funky things would have happened.

do you have an amp for your stereo? or anything thats aftermarket and drawing current and needs positive and neg?
Something like this happened to me when i had a bad install for my amps. when i would click on the high beams the speedo would drop to 0 and then back up. it was actually when i did anything that required power. after redoing the amp install it was perfect again. i think maybe the power wire was touching the body of the car, since my subs would only pop and made no noise.

actually i had the vss on my civic start having problems and didnt throw a code until it did it at least 3 or 4 times.
so he could still have an issue with his vss. i would take it out and clean it and inspect it
