head gasket help...
my headgasket(s) are **** and i need to replace them..
i want to learn how to replace parts on my car so im going to do it myself rather than pay someone a lot of money to do something i can do on my day off..
but i cant find a guide online or anything on taking the head off.. does anyone have a link to a site that has a walkthrough?
any advice?
thanks in advance.

I hate the haynes manual for our cars. Its nice for the pictures but the helms is the best.
Hardest part about doing a head gasket on our cars is getting the stock one cleanly off the block. If you dont clean the entire old gasket off you'll have a really good oil leak. Trust me, I had to take the head off my car 3 times in one week until I got it right. Guess I am a slow learner.

Getting the intake, exhaust and belts off took me about 3 hours the first time just cause I wasnt sure how it all went together. That and I did not want to rush into it and not be able to put it back together. Then another hour or so just to get the head separated from the block. But when I did my head gasket I also did the timing belt and water pump so that added a lot of time. Plus I have a set of air tools so the crank pulley wasnt a huge challenge.
Removing the old gasket took some time. I used spray gasket remover, razor blades and scotch brite pads.
If I were you I would set aside a full weekend to do it. Also see if you can find a local HT member to lend a hand.
