What happens...
If you recently buy a car from a dealership and they said that the car hasn't been in a wreck and they even have a carfax saying that its good. Then when you take it to a bodyshop and pointed out some things that it has been in a wreck. Is there a way that you can return the car? or is it pretty much that your screwed?
Bodyshop was saying it looks like it was a front collision. The impact looks like it was more towards the right side of the car. There was no vin numbers on the fenders, hood, and front bumper. I looked under the car myself and some of the parts had some yellow over spray. Also theres some rust where the welds are on that thick brace where the stock intake sits on.

Hope this helps, almost the same situation as yours. Found it trolling around the S2ki forums. Good luck.

i take it the car doesnt have a salvage title. if it has been in a big enough wreck then it should have a salvage title. you said no numbers on the fenders, hood, and front bumper. sounds like maybe they had to put a new core support on it in the process. you never said if it was a brand new car though. if you can get solid proof that the car should have a salvage title (bodyman says its been wrecked bad) then you might have a case. i've seen dealerships pull stunts like this in the past. one in particular i can think of that happened a few years ago......a lady dropped off her new trans-am for its first service and left it for the weekend. one of the techs got ahold of the car and decided to go hot-rod the hell out of it after hours. turns out he lost control of the car and fu<ked it all up in a ditch. the dealership then tried to hide the damage by fixing the car over the weekend (body repair and respray on one whole side) without consulting the owner of the problem, and gave the car back to her. the owner swore up and down that the car was never the same after she got it back. with new distrust towards the dealership, she took it to a mechanic for a second opinion, and he found out the car had been wrecked because they failed to remove large chunks of sod from the undercarraige, and didnt even repair the damage to the underside for that matter. you definitely have to watch it when you buy from a dealership. new....used....lease....it doesnt matter, most car salesmen are snakes and they'll say anything they have to just to make the sale. i've had car salesmen try to sell me bogus crap before. i was very close to buying a car from a dealership once, but something about the car seemed fishy.....could it be the white smoke coming out of the tail pipe??? or the fact that the engine oil was over a quart low even though the salesman claimed it was just serviced a week ago. when i talked to the previous owner (happened to be an aqquaintance of mine), i found that the reason he got rid of the car was it had a cracked head gasket, and it also had a nasty tendency to burn lots of oil. did the salesman bother to disclose that to me during his sales pitch???? NO WAY! he said "this car runs perfectly, our techs inspected the motor thoroughly and found nothing wrong at all." they'll make sure you hear whatever it is you want to hear, so long as their pockets are lined at the end of the week.
car fax has that guarentee, but im not sure how to go about using it...
if its not on the carfax, then theirs no proof...trust me i know this first hand...

Well, I think the dealership is protected cause I looked at one of the papers that states: "We do no guarantee that any car sold is free of previous accident". So I guess I'm pretty much screwed there. Even though they told me that it hasn't been in a wreck. On the Car-Fax buy back Guarantee there might be a way I hope. http://www.carfax.com/guarantee/hctermsanddef.cfm The car is used and I know they sell it as-is but I would've walked away if I knew it was already wrecked.
Easiest way to tell if it has structural damage is to take it to get aligned. The machine will tell you if the car is still able to adj. to factory specs. Is the work done on it shoddy? Oh, and the vins on the body parts are a que to look for body work but sometimes, like in my case, the stickers were all present but the whole left side of the car had been repainted from the front bumper to the rear quarter. Car fax came out clean but luckily I had the # to the original dealer for the car and called them to find out what had been done. All the maint. but no body work. In the owners folder was the receipt for the body work done by the owner without the insurance knowledge. Turns out she backed out of a parking place and cut too early and got a nice little scratch down the length of the car, with no structural damage.
Same exact ******* thing happened to me with the 93' Lude I drive now. The women had owned it since new, swore up and down there was never any accidents, car fax said it was clear, yet I could tell that the radiator supports had been re-welded, along with a new radiator and other misc things seemed replaced or alittle misaligned. I got the bitch back though, I used the lemon law to make that ***** purchase me 4 brand new winter snow tires for my stock rims
And you better ******* believe that I made sure that they were expensive ones too

I got a 2nd opinion at another body shop. The guy didn't even get close to my car and he could tell that its been in a wreck. Well come to find out the whole car was repainted and they did have to reweld a new front brace. Also everything in the front was new and had overspray on it. I went to the dealership today and told them about what happened. They were like they didn't know the car was in a wreck.
Dealership: "When we do an inspection all we do is change the oil and all the other basic maintenance. We don't check for any kind of body damage".
They told me that they rely on the Carfax because it "supposedly" 100% accurate. So they don't need to check to see if it was wrecked.
I don't know if I have a case or not, but when I called a lawyer to tell him about my situation he said I have something. So I hope something good will come of this. The only thing I want from the dealership is to take the car back.

I'm mad that I'm paying full price for a car thats been wrecked. But, if I knew the car was wrecked in the first place I wouldn't have gotten it.
