squeeky front left...
it sounds like the under the front left (driver)of the car or at the front driver wheel its squeeking while going over bump etc... what can i do to get rid of that noise and what can it be? Im thinking cv boot maybe...
If this has occured since the weather has turned cold, there is the possibility of two conditions.
1) Dry Ball Joint (Lubricating Grease hardens when cold) - Requires replacement
2) Inner Anti-Sway Bar bushings (Body Pivot) - can be addressed several ways
a) Wrap swaybar in area contacted by inner buching with Plumbers Teflon Tape, or b) Lubricating it with either lithium grease or Camshaft assembly lube.

My 1992 sedan has been doing the same thing occasionally......squeaky noise from left front while driving and it makes some noise when stepping out of the car......maybe adjusting to the weight no longer being in the car. I tried gently cranking the wheel to the left while parked tonite and it would make a similar squeaking noise as I'd turn it. Any ideas??? I heard about this possiblly being a common issue w/ the 4th generation (1990-1993).
Forget the Anti-Sway Bar bushings.
Can you say Ball Joint?? IE:
Squeeks while chassis moves
Squeeks while turning steering wheel
4th Gen's are not alone on this, 5th Gen's suffer from the same thing. I went to 152,000 on the original Ball Joints, and probably would have gone furthur if that %^$# noise hadn't started up

Got the diagnosis..........seized lower front left ball joint. They don't know if the upper is bad too but I'm hoping not b/c it's a good deal pricier to replace than the lower. Anyone had this problem and if so what's a reasonable cost to have it fixed (either just the lower joint or both)? It's a 1992 EX 5 speed sedan if it makes a difference.
hmm I AM noticing a squeeky sound coming from the front left more now , and when I step out of the car, when it lifts up. I hear it also as I said before in turning... so check the ball joints? Where are they located exactly?

Bring it in to a garage and have them check it out......my lower joint was seized so that was pretty obvious.......as far as the upper........hard to tell until they get the lower one apart b/c (at least on the 4th generation) the upper joint is part of the control arm.
Hondamaniac1:
Don't feel so bad, the Fifth (5th) Generation Accords share the same non-serviceable upper ball joint/control arm assembly.
OSIRIuS23:
There are several methods to Id a bad ball joint
a) By feel:
(laying of the hands) After a while you get where you can feel where the vibration is coming from.
b) By sound:
You can use either a long shank screwdriver, or a length of hose as a substitute Stethoscope. Or just use a stethoscope !!!

I took it in to the mechanic and its definetely noticeable from the right front wheel... but he said it could be just that a or some bushings need lubrication i.e.- silicone. So Im taking it in on the 16th, they are gonna check it out. Its an import auto place, they do good work so im gonna wait..
