I had my 89 CRX Si inspected by Honda yesterday because I have been having electrical problems and my battery keeps dying. So Honda told me my alternator only puts out 35amps and their books say CRX's need 60amps. The only question I have is for after-market stuff. I have PIAA bulbs on both headlights and my sidemarkers, Viper Pager Alarm, Amp, Sub, Speakers, MP3 deck... But even a stock battery should be able to handle these, shouldn't they? If my new 60amp alternator isn't converting mechanical to electric at the right ratio what are my other options? Would a capacitor help? And SHOULD 60amps be more than suitable?

60 amps should be o.k., but you said it is only putting out 35 amps?

 

60 amps will be plenty as long as your amp doesn't require a huge amount of draw. I'll be upgrading to either a 90 or 110 on mine because of my amps.
