Default What the hell is a poorman's type r?

As my question asks: what the hell is a poorman's type r? Anybody can tell me? Whats with the b16 head on a gsr block or something like that? why would you put a b16 head on a gsr block when you can just have the whole gsr engine? Help me here guys, is it good or bad?

if you ask me, it's simply an integra that looks like a type R, but isn't.

The way to go instead of a full type r motor

In basic terms its similar to the LS/Vtec. But instead of a LS block, you have a GSR B18c block mated w/a B16 head. This is a poormans type R. I think it sucks though.

like everyone's been saying.. the unity between the b16 head and b18c block is called the "poor man's type-r" because "essentially", that's what the ITR's motor consists of. But you also must keep in mind MANY other factors that give the ITR its power and reputation. Cams, TB, IM, pistons, etc.. In other words, you can't just slap a b16 head on a GSR motor and call it an ITR. Much work is still to be done..

The main reason(well for most people), is because the cast on the b16 head is the same as a type-r head so the b16 head can be pretty easily re-worked to flow and perform just as well as a type-r head but for a lot cheaper.

I would rather have just a straight up GSR motor though.
