has anyone ever used one of there system. i want to know if its worth the money or if the really do what they claim.

 

last i heard about CATZ is that they went under

 

CATZ / FET USA was forced to close when the ban on aftermarket HIDs went into effect. They literally had to recall all of their HID systems on retail shelves and ship it back to Japan, per the DOT order. Great company.. great products.. great people... a darn shame.

 

but is the system a good one for then "poor mans hid's" i wanted to know if they really work

 

i wasnt happy with there products.. but im comparing them to OEM HID

How does the Catz Zeta light enhancer work?
It contains a DC-DC converter (which are used alot in many industry applications) that will give higher voltage output. Output voltage to bulb has been measured to be as high as 16-17V. There will be a slight increase in amperage draw to be able to create the additional volts and to cover heat losses in the units. It does give some increase in output, and is harmless to factory wiring headlamp curcuit. But paying more than $100 for Catz Zeta, well, that is probably not worth it. In most cars, a relay system for $35 are more valueable.

Bulb life will suffer, maybe as low as 200 hours, all depending on bulb quality and not to mention remaining life.

Funny story is that, at least in an H4 application, a Philips Vision Plus bulb (sold by autolamps-online.com and powerbulbs.com) without use of Zeta, has the same intensity at 12V compared to a Catz Zeta system in combination with a stock Sylvania bulb.

 

I just purchased a Catz Zeta system for fairly cheap and am very happy with the system... i'm using only phillips OE. replacement bulbs (am looking for better bulbs but cant figure out which to use) at the moment and still love them to death... can't see anything at all when its wet but...

 

It is a good gadget to enhance your factory halogen setup. However, it should never be compared to real HID since you'll be disappointed. If you compare it to other people's halogen system, then the Catz Zeta is a nice system. I liked mine when I had it.

yea I totally understand that... but which bulbs should I use to enhance it further

 

I've used 2 different sets of Piaas, 1 set of Sylvania Cool Blue, and 1 set of Sylvania Silverstars. Out of those, I liked the Silverstars the best. The color was as white as you can get for halogens. It didn't emit any blue/purple beam at all, just a pure clean white light. I just picked up another set of Silverstars earlier today at Autozone, $37 for the pair.

For white halogens, Silverstars are really great bulbs.
