Is this going to be just daily driven? And how much did you drop the car?

you won't get both shocks and struts for anywhere near $300, however a used set of cheaper brand ones may be within reach or close.

KYB and a cheap spring is still more as the KYB AGX alone are $300 give or take $15.

cheap is not the right way to do it, so i'd save money to get something right....but if your set of under $300, used is your only hope...and even that is not much hope.

I think he already has springs, just needs shocks.

I agree that you should not be cheap about this. If your going to spend money, spend it once then. I would just save up and get some koni yellows. They go for about 500 for all 4.

my bad, if you already have springs $300 will get you KYB AGX or $460 shipped (in the marketplace from 2 vendors) will get you the famous Koni Yellows.

If you already have springs, which ones do you have and how much do they lowered....that will also affect which shocks you can work with as some (most) will not handle being slammed very well, but if its only 1.5" or so, then pretty much any will work well and Koni Yellow is your best bet.

I agree. I believe tokiko and kybs are only good up to a 1.8" drop. But i would get Koni's can handle a severe drop and are adjustable. But as alwaysoverkill said what springs do you have on now. And do you plan on auto-x or road racing?

basicly i just want my ride a little smoother. its bounchy as hell. not as bad as it could be.

the car is lowered 2 1/2 inches i think. or what ever the lowest i could go with the coilovers. they are maxspeed by the way.

i'm not looking for super good performance or anything, i just want to minumize the bounce as much as possible.

oh yeah the car is just my daily driver. doesn't get driven to hard other then in a staight line.

i dont want to spend to much cause the car is not staying to much longer. i just got sick of the 4x4 look after driving a golf that was the lowest thing in seattle.

dumped that low on crappy coilovers, finding a nice ride isn't going to be easy.

you don't have enough shock travel. not many shocks would survive that long.

secondly, the springs that ship with these ebay coilover sleeves are junk, and who knows what their real spring rates are?

either way, of the choices presented to you, the konis will give you what you want. they just cost a little more.

btw, most hondas use Shocks.

yeah i have no idea. i'm new to this whole thing. i payed to have everything done to my golf. this time i want to do it on my own. but i'm not trying to make anything super cool or nice. only problem is this car is my "in the time being car" until i get a new one.

basicly i just want to be happy with the car, but spend the least amount of money possible, so i dont hate to see it go.

i think you can raise it 1/2" or 3/4" from where it is, get some AGX's, and be ok. it's just that sporting a 2.5" drop is pretty extreme for most shocks.
