60k mi maintenance
I just received a letter from Honda about the 60k mi maintenance. I called them for a price check and they said $380. Wtf?! I would love to take my car to Honda but I'm just too broke for that. I was wondering if there's anything they do that I can't do myself. Also, can anyone tell me exactly what they will do? Any help is appreciated.
PS - If there is anyone in the Seattle area that can do this for me at a cheaper rate. Please let me know.

I got a copy of the 96-00 helms manual. I can look it up later tonight to see what has to be done. Can't be that much things on the list besides the usual. Fuel filter, pcv valve, spark plugs, maybe spark plug wires, change tranny fluid and check the other fluids, brake pads etc. I'm gonna be doing a timing belt and water pump change in a month or two. Those are in the 90k mile maintenance I think, but I'm at 99k.

The 60K maintenance routine usually includes a valve check/adjustment, among other things most DIYers don't do...

it also varies on what year/model its for... the newer civics 01 and up, accords 03 and up, crv's 02 and up, pilots 03 and up, and odysseys 02 and up its an oil change, tire rotation, air filter, a/c filter(s), check/adjust belts, lube the locks and hinges, and a number of other inspections including the brakes... this service goes for about 280 where i work... on these models, trans. services, rear diff. services, replacing brake fluid, plugs, valve adjustments, fuel filters, etc. cost an extra fee
I say you just buy a pcv and timing belt and have gordie do the valve adjustment and we can do all the rest.
1.Oil and filter change-i kno you can do that
2.Tire rotation-yahh you kno how to do that to
3.Fuel filter-torn and i have done it
4.Tranny-Flush and refill we both have done that or seen it done
5.Valve adjustment-gordie can do that cheap to he has all the honda books so he can set everything back to spec
5.Pcv-cake
6.Spark plug wires and plugs-easy
7.Timing belt-need a lift and none of us have that easy tho take it off and do the water pump at the sametime throw it back on line everything up two rotations of the crank and were done.Wouldnt hurt to check the timing after that to make sure its right

You know, I keep meaning to replace my PCV (pretty sure it's clicking) but just can't figure out how the hell to get my hand under the intake manifold. Is there a trick I don't know about? Or is it just a bitch to have large hands on a B-series?

Here's the list of things to do:
Major Service Interval
Mileage: 30,000 - 60,000 - 90,000 - 120,000 - etc.
* Engine oil and filter - replace
* Fluid levels - top off all
* Lube hinges, locks, latches, and hood cable
* Front / Rear brakes - visual inspection
* Transmission fluid - drain & refill
* Lights - check operation
* Clutch - adjust if applicable
* Battery posts - inspect & clean
* Fuel lines, tank, lines & connections - inspect
* Spark plugs - replace (except platinum plugs)
* Distributor cap & rotor - inspect
* Tires - balance rear tires and rotate to front; adjust pressure & inspect tire wear pattern
* Coolant system - Check level & test protection
* Wiper blades - check operation & wear
* Park brake - adjust & lube as needed
* Front/Rear disc calipers & hoses
* Air filter - inspect
* Exhaust system - inspect
* Suspension, struts & steering - inspect
* Adjust valve clearance if applicable
* Brake Fluid - replace and bleed system
Yea, sounds good Omandi. I'm sure we could do pretty much everything, then just take my car to Gordie's for the valve adjustment. Torn said we don't need to do the timing belt til 90k so that's fine. I just need to buy spark plugs, brake pads, and a water pump. Anything else I might need to purchase?

Ive never done it on a bseries but i found that it was hard to get to on my dseries so i used some needle nose pliers that were long enough to get down there

I have a battery post cleaner if you have acid on the terminals and the flush and fill coolant is easy as well.Cap and rotor is easy to and we can probably rent a coolant tester from an auto store.Just piece everything together over time and maybe someday well all have the day off and get all that stuff out of the way
