This is a tech question, but I deemed it a little to general to be put in the tech forum and since I'm working on a CRX, I decided this made the most sense.
Are the bolts that hold the pressure plate to the flywheel left thread or are the bolts that hold the flywheel to the crank left thread (or are both, for that matter). By left thread, I mean that the catchy saying "lefty loosey, righty tighty" is actually reversed (so turning it left will tighten, and right will loosen).

They are normal thread. "Rightsie tightsie...etc."
And they are a bitch to remove without an impact.
You stuck removing them? I can tell you what I did just the other day...
I put a 17mm 1/2 ratchet on the crank bolt and used half of my craftman floor jack handle (Used as a pry bar) wedged under the leg of my engine hoist to hold the engine from turning.
Then I used a 17mm wrench on the bugger bolts and an hammer to beat them loose.
It is helful if you have a firend (Or a son in my case) to hold the boxed end on the bolt head so you dont round off the 12 point bolts.
This is what I get for working at home instead of where I have air!!! LOL
Oh, I broke 2 17mm sockets doing this, but the third one was the trick!

I fucked up 3 crank bolts with a electric impact. My advice would be to get someone to hold the crank bolt with a breaker bar and do your best with a 1\2 inch wratchet or another breaker bar. I just would hate to screw up the threads on my crank...

Well, this is the problem I've already had. I've broken the heads right off the bolts that hold the pressure plate to the flywheel. This doesn't bother me, as they can be drilled out fairly easily. However, I do not feel like breaking the heads off of the ones that hold the flywheel to the crank, because that operation would be slightly more complicated (drilling them out of the crank). Seeing as I'm still trying to sell the engine that I took out, I'd like to be able to sell it to someone with a crank that is still useable.
Perhaps then my best bet is to buy a new flywheel for the engine I'm putting in and leave the old flywheel on the other engine and sell it with the flywheel.
