Default Buying new shocks

I have a '91 3-door. Anybody have any advice to give on adjustable shocks that aren't ridiculously expensive? It's hard to tell from the dealer sites which shock and spring packages are good and which aren't.

Is your car just going to be daily driven, or slightly tracked or auto-x.

Just daily driving around Brooklyn, NY. I need to be able to squirt in and out of traffic and boogie when I need to. I find the stock Teg suspension to be a little soft. I will be keeping the stock 14" wheels.

Im running tokico illuminas with ground control coilovers and i live in brooklyn too
If i was you just stick with stock suspension and get aftermarket springs like eibach on them or get kyb gr-2's its a little stiffer than stock and get some aftermarket springs...

The KYB AGX, Tokico Illumina, and Koni Yellow's are some adjustable shocks available for the 1990-1993 Integra's. Also, are you considering just changing the shocks or both the shocks and springs?

Thanks a lot for the advice guys. What do you all think about those Tokico blue shocks? I know thay aren't adjustable, but seem to be popular.

This would depend on what springs you are choosing to use with the Blues. The Blues are basically an OEM shock replacement, so higher rate springs/low drop will not work well with these.

do you want adjustability in your dampening or ride height, or both?

for ride height, ask yourself if you'll be tracking it or adjusting it much?
if no, then go with a quality spring at the desired drop height you want.

for dampening, again, ask yourself if you'll be adjusting it much or tracking it?
if no, then the tokico blue will be fine with a 1.8" to 2.0" drop spring.
Any lower than that, you might want a better quality shock, especially on nyc streets.

if yes, on the ride height question, you should go with a full coilover suspension setup, as opposed to a sleeve; unless you spend a moderate amount of cash and get the koni/Ground Control setup; they're matched well.

if yes on the dampening question, go with the kyb agx or koni yellow (the kyb agx is the cheaper alternative).

I recommend an eibach drop spring of your desired height, mated to a set of kyb agx shocks for daily driving in nyc.

Thanks for your advice. I really just want more responsive handling. I originally was going to just go for the Blues and use my stock springs, and hadn't even considered lowering the car, given the rediculous condition of the streets in NYC. However, a one-inch drop might be worthwhile, but I might as well go with an adjustable shock if I'm going to do all that. I guess it's between the Illuminas and the KYB Agx. So, as I understand it, the Tokico blues are basically a tighter version of the stock shocks on the Integra? Any Reccomendations on the right settings for street driving with on the Illuminas or AGX shocks?

Look into a Koni application. Its a little expensive though, but well worth it.

i wish i could afford a koni package. you know how it goes with these kind of decisions. i don't want to get the chintzy stuff but i can't go buckwild either. i was lucky enough to get my '91 teg in outstanding condition, but for NYC i have found that a crisp suspension and more responsive handling is more necessary than exhaust, intake, etc... figured i should start upgrading the entire suspension and move to the engine and exhaust from there. just trying to get the best for my budget. but as i understand from these posts, the Koni blues don't make a big enough difference to justify buying them. thanks for your advice man.

by the way, how much do shops charge to install a set of shocks? i assume that wheel alignment has to be done too, right?
