Air Intake
Does anyone know anything about these Ractive Air Intakes?? Ive been looking into buying a short air intake for the winter. Cold air intake doesnt work so well in
-20 weather (that would be canadain celcius temp).
So anyway, i had this salesman try and sell me a reactive Air Intake. I dont know anything about them. I tried doing a google search and i cant seem to find any good info on these intakes. Ive always been the type of person, if i cant find info readily avaible by doing a simple search it must not be worth buying. So i turn to the wonderful people of Honda-tech to help me out.
Any info would be great

you dont even need the piping, just stick a damn filter on your throttle body

Different materials, intake pipe length, pipe bends, and filter can make one brand/type better than the other.
But "better" most likely is not noticeable without instrumented testing. In other words, you'd be paying more money for something performance that you may not even feel.
While extracting every last bit of performance (and spending lots of money for miniscule gains) is okay in say, F1, it's not practical for the average consumer's street car.

Intake is an intake. Every day of the week... It never changes. Get an ebay cheapy pipe and stick a k&n filter on it. Unless you are building for a high performance all motor or supercharged motor, go with the cheapy.

Yes. This topic has been covered just about everywhere on the internet. Anyone who pays $40 for an intake or more is a ******* idiot. The only reason why I can see someone buying an AEM intake is for carb laws in the state of California.

According to Dynojet 248C tests on my car, the Iceman has peak gains of 6hp and raised peak hp about another 3hp. AEM on same car had losses under 3K rpm and the biggest gain was only about 2hp, which was how much peak hp was raised.
So one intake can be better than another intake.
But I do agree in the whole scheme of things a couple hp difference won't be felt without instrumented testing (consistent lap/track times, dyno tests, etc).

unless you live in CA, get an eBay intake. cheap and easy to install, and they sound pretty nice. i personally wouldnt pay the extra buck, im not convinced that its worth it.

Or if you got an engine swap and want one of their Hybrid CAI's.
