Default Looking @ buying a Type R please advise

My buddy has a 00 type R in yellow.
car has around 100k on the clock.

it needs timing belt, water pump, belts, spark plugs, upper+lower hoses, basically all the maintenance.
it also needs a clutch, so i will need to replace flywheel and pressure plate and bearings along with it.

he is asking 10,000 for it.

i work for acura as a tech so no labor charges will incur.

should i go for it to get a piece of honda history?

no accidents, no flood...clean title...

had a break in attempt recently and there is some prying action around the top of the window frame. i don't want to see this one in the hands of thieves...

otherwise it seems to be in nominal condition for 100k

this will basically be a project car for me (to help get over a 5 year relationship breakup with my g\f) so it will not be daily driven....just worked on and such....so for 10K i dont see why i shouldnt just get a loan and start making payments

i wouldn't usually say this, but with all the recent ITR thefts in Florida is there any chance this car is hott? How well do you know this friend? As stated i normally wouldn't ask such a question but 10K for a clean titled R (even with 100K) is a very very good price.

If all checks out then congrats on a great find and i hope you pick it up

Thats a great deal. Buy it and get full coverage. If it gets stolen you will make money on this car.

the car is not stolen or anything like that...
he has been the 2nd owner.... he doesnt want to dump any maintenance money into it as well as pay for clutch and labor.

it will likely be a shop car for a while, since it needs clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, timing belt job, and about every other maintenance item i can think of.

it seems to have had some bondo slapped on one of the quarter panels but no frame damage , it was pretty minor.

overall its in good shape for 10K
