How do you tell what type engin you have?

I was wondering how you know what type engin you have? exapmple B16a and so on? I have a 2004 honda civic EX...can anyone help me?

there should be an engine code on the lower left of ur engine...

Pop the hood and look on the front left side of the motor. Its stamped on there.
