Default is ls/vtec reliable???

I've been thinking of doing a gsr head swap on my ls block. And talking to some friends of mine and they are saying that it will be unreliable and wont last 10,000 miles???? So how reliable is the ls/vtec swap?

Very as long as you understnad that you have a LS bottom end. Rev limit on LS was 7500. You can build you motor to go higher but just plain stock, keep the revs down and make sure you are using good parts. Your motor is only as reliable as the components and quailty of labor you put into it, Driver error or disregard will have detrimental effects on your build.

i began to do an LS-Vtec swap but changed my mind because of what i've heard about the unreliability. through research i've noticed that it is 100% reliable if *as gt30 said* done well. i just personally didn't have the time or money to get everything done properly on that build...but besides that it is perfectly reliable...but it will not be a weekend build...it will take lots of care and TLC

Thanks for the answer! Wouldn't be just like a b16 or b18 i mean if you abuse your motor its not going to be as reliable.

I have heard that its unreliable if its not tuned and built properly. But if its done right and tuned well its a great engine.

I had the same lsvtec in my car for 4 years and no major problems. Stock bottom end. Revved to 8k plenty of times. Gs-r water/oil pump. Last winter I decided it was time to rebuild it so I went through the whole motor and built it up. Have about 7k miles on my this motor and absolutely no problems whatsoever.
