Default crown nut keeps slipping!!

Okay I am just putting on new brakes and I am trying to tighten up the crown bolt on the lowest part of the suspension (i dunno the name of it, it is closest to the brake rotor and hangs down the farthest). I need to thread it up high enough to put a cotter pin through it but I can only really get half-way. I don't have any power tools with the hammer setting on them to try that, so what else can I do??? I need to get the crown bolt up the other half so i can shove the cotter pin and be done with it!! The passenger side worked fine, but the driver side is impossible!!!!! any help???

thanks
travis

make sure the castle nut is not bent at the end. if the ball joint keeps spinning put a jack under the lca and jack it up it should put pressure on the ball joint to stop from turning.

get a die and chase the thread on the nut. or just get a new nut.

once the castle nut is used, the threads get tweaked and causes enough friction to break loose the balljoint, depending on the condition of it. very common, thats why theyre "supposed" to be replaced.

its 12x1.25mm tap and die.

same thing happened to me when i dropped my tranny, we dropped the car on its wheels so that there would be pressure on the bolt then i was just able to finagle (yes, finagle) it on, it was a bitch but doable. You could always just replace the ball joint if worse comes to worse.

I didn't know they were "supposed" to be changed everytime!! I have used this one forever now! But i will keep trying to do it with weight on it or a jack... then ill get a new one if i have to!
