Here is how I do it on the SOHC
Bolt Bracket to Mount
Have friend push or pull on the timing belt side of the motor as neccesary
Slide in one of the outer bolts, the inner one (closest to thermostat housing) will still allow the two behind it to move about.
Swear, curse, bitch, and in general moan.
Have air gun handy so the second everything lines up you can drill that sucker in
Sit back and relax and laugh about how hard it actually wasn't

I haven't run into your problem... nor do i remember how the mount is setup.
But if it's a through bolt (not going into a welded on nut) and has a little room on the other end i'd grab a bolt pretty darn close in size as the one putting in. Cut the head off that similar bolt (so it will go in and out the other side), grind a point down on the other end, hammer that bad boy in there... Then when it's in there more or less flush or a little bit in the hole, beat it in the rest of the way with the proper bolt and then stick the nut on the end and there ya go.
If it's not a through bolt... disregard.
If it's not a through bolt though, i'd stick a pinch bolt (or heavy duty phillips screwdriver) and pry it all around until it lines up well (basically barely bend the mount or whatever gives) and stick the bolt in.
