I am gettin ready to replace my cam seal sometimes tomorrow and i was wondering how hard to replace it? Do I have to take off my valve train and my cam shaft at all?

Depends on which cam seal you are speaking of (the 2 on the cams @ timing belt side) or the single seal on the other end if DOHC. What engine?

Cam removal is not needed. You will need to slip the timing belt off the cam gear and remove the cam gear. You might have to remove the rear timing belt cover if there is one....its been awhile since ive worked on A6, lol.

One trick I learned was to zap strap the timing belt to the cam gear in a couple of places. Then undo the bolt and slide the cam gear off the cam. Once the seal is changed, slide the cam gear with belt attached onto the cam and then remove the zap straps.

If you do this at TDC, just ensure the cam and crank timing marks are aligned to ensure cam timing is unchanged.

Good luck.
