88 civic dx with z6 head

Default 88 civic dx with z6 head

which timing belt do i use ive already bought the origional 88 dx belt to long i bought the y8 belt and the teeth are to close so the belt doesnt even go on what do i do now?????

i heard that when you use that belt with that head/block combo you need to take the spring all the way out of the timing belt tensioner just to get it in, i havent done it but thats what i heard which probably doesnt help

y8/z6 belt works..Try taking the spring off the pulley tensioner,then put on the belt on over the cam gear

what i mean is the teeth are to close on the timing belt and dont even wrap arout the gears water pump cam or crank gear

I never had that problem..I did a dx block/z6 head with y8 timing belt and a a6 si block/z6 head with a y8 timing belt..It was a lot tighter on the a6 block but still worked..

aright finally got it right its the 95 civic vx belt fits like a perfect fit thanks for all of your help guys

Damn you got that belt to work? That's good to hear..I tryed that belt first when I did the dx/d16z6 head motor and it fit and everything but when I revved it up it squeaked..I guess from being so tight..
