Default JG block 600 whp??? good idea???

Whats up guys. I have a a JG block that i picked up super cheap. I am in the process for doing a build with a goal of around 600whp. I am not dead set on using the block but if it will work why not. It is currently at 81.5mm and has less then 5000 miles on it. my question is it safe to use? I know JG has had some issues in the past. I am not sure if they were quality issues or time delay. maybe some of you guys have more imput for me.
Thanks in advance

I have personally seen the sleeves drop on a JG block. I will see if I can dig up pictures.

Found. Still made good power for a blown head gasket and dropped sleeves.

fortunately, i have had my JG block for four years now. it is on a second rebuild, and have not any problems with sleeves sinking. boost levels @ 29 psi ~ 620 whp. 83mm bore.

I don't think it has to do with the series of sleeve. JG's quality is incosistant period. Out of all the companies that is available for sleeving, I would just stay away from them all together. Not worth the risk for our hard earned money.

Everything about that company is inconsistent. When their work is good, it's really good. But when it's bad... you get milkshake valve covers.

I have enjoyed my JG set up for the last year now. List of components can be seen/read in the January issue of DSport. Motor has seen well over 600 hp at 26 PSI.

No problem with mine and I have over 12k miles on it but, my block is almost 6 years old.

I'll tell you what, let me know who has that block and I'll go get it.

hey thats my milkshake valve cover! haha... yep my old block, was sleeved by JG. it had more like 3k miles... sleeves moved after original build, then Comptech tried rebuilding the bottom with only resufacing the deck and they sank again.

the thing is it's a gamble with all your money spent regardless when building theses systems because it only takes one stupid error and there goes your build. why add more risk? I say if you love building and money isn't tight then try it out... if you want to be fast like a fararri but only have civic money then I say start with a new block with good known sleeves... better yet with a warenty.

if bodykits NW decides not to send shipping cash for the block then I'll throw a sheet of glass on top and call it a coffe table

and 0x64, stop being a bitch and reply to my PMs

LOL i own it. it was 400 for a compleat bottom end - pistons and rods. for that cheap I had to buy it. I think I will use it and see what happens. if a sleeve sinks I will buy a benson and start over. thanks for all the input and if anyone else would like to chime in feel free
