Default VX Black Box

What the hell is do that little black box that sits on the firewall do? Would that box do something to my idle and my inability to rev the motor pass a certain rpm?

he is talking about the EGR control assembly. yes, if that is not functioning correctly, it will make your idle bad and could cause drivability problems. use the helms and run the test.

that black box should have nothing connected to it right now. if you have something connected to it, you have problems. remove it from the car. disconnect the vac lines and unplug the 2 pin plug.

Ok I disconnected it but when I still pull on the throttle cable the car revs a little bit and just stop going up. I'm running a minime with D15 block/Y8 head with Z6 im. I'm also using the stock VX harness for this as well.

if you are using a VX harness, there are already some problems there. for example, did you repin for the oxygen sensor? how did you connect the oxygen sensor? the vx has a wideband o2 sensor which will not work with anything other than the vx ecu. are you in the army?

you need the box if you use a P07 (VX ECU).

If you're using a P28 then you don't need it.

that's the thing I didn't have done yet was the repinning of the o2 sensor. Yeah I have also a p28. I believe if I still used the P07 it would make the vtec kick in at 2500rpms.and yeah i'm in the army.

head yourself over to the auto hobby shop and use their resources to pull up the wiring diagrams. you can not use the vx ecu, the check engine light will come on for EGR failure. you must use the p28 and a standard o2 sensor. you MUST repin the o2 sensor wire. keeping the p07 will not work the vtec properly. activating vtec at 2500 on your new motor wont do a damn thing good for you other than potentially damaging something.
