Default early stages of b20/vtec

im in the early stages of kinda building b20/gsr motor. ive been told to build a nice strong block. would a blockguard help at all? and what kind of tuning would be best? is a vafc worth buying or is it better to just take it somewhere and have it done professionally? any help at all will be appreciated.

how high do you plan on revving? i have a b20/vtec and i dont use a block guard, ive heard they can lead to overheating sometimes, but i dont go over 7500-8000.. def need some arp head studs though..
vafc imo isnt worth it, i got a chipped p28 and had some custom chips made.. i think its cool but maybe vafc is good for some people
