I was told it may need a new clutch fork. Will this be a hard or expensive fix? The car is only $700 (from a friend of a friend) so I expect to have to fix some things

dsm's are somewhat complicated compared to honda's.
you need to make sure the motor, turbo and clutch are in good shape. these cars have been beaten on as hard or harder compared to honda's and because they are easy to make power with...the previous owner has probably attempted to make more power. while its easy to put a 16g on a dsm and run 12's...most people do it without the right fuel control...without the right clutch...and then run into issues that they wouldn't have otherwise had if the car had been built accordingly.
if you find a clean, all original awd you'll be doing really well. i'd look to spend around 2500 on an awd...or about 1800 on a fwd turbo.

The one I'm looking at is a 90 AWD Turbo. All he has done to it are exhaust, guages, and BOV (which will be comming off if I get it.) $700

yeah I just found that sight. It doesnt look like there's much in the way of tasteful cosmetic mods. No 2million lip kits like Hondas
http://www.vfaq.com is the best resource besides http://www.teamnabr.com.
unfortunately the nabr boards are usually closed for new registration.
also...its good to find your local .dsm.org site.
tampabay.dsm.org and orl.dsm.org are great local resources for everyone in the central/west central florida region.

If it is a 1G.... get used to it. There is nothing to make them look well other than rims and suspension. I miss mine. At 15lbs I did 13.32... car was stolen at 18 lbs. Fast as all hell. Freinds shop has a 1GB that did over 600 hp... I canot wait to see it go down the track this next year
