Default Are these signs of a bad ground?

Ok car has been acting funny, want to know if i should check my grounds.

symptoms:
- Speedo and Tach randomly go all over the place- car performance is not effected
- Strange clicking that increases and decreases with RPMS, may just be my 450dsm injectors or main relay with bad ground?
- Apexi turbotimer goes from reading a/f to no reading (---) mid-drive, even though there is still good o2 voltage
- Sometimes ill hit bumps and randomly my head unit till cut off, it will come back on when i click "source"

Any ideas?

My car use to do that awhile back. RPM/SPEEDO etc acting NUTS!! But car is fine. Car shutted off randomly after boost, etc.

IT all stopped after I remove the fuel evap canister. Not sure if it helped solved the problem tho. But seems like everything stopped from there.

---------Grounds are, Starter, Tranny, Valve Cover, Battery. Thats all I can think of. It wont hurt to GROUND everything! Distributor, and few other spots.

Gl tho.

mine did the same things but it went away after a little while
but if you ground the main relay independently to the chassie if that dosent fix it it could be the electrical part of your ignition(key ignition) that should fix it

where is the main relay located in an eg coupe? Also, the turbotimer is wired into the ignition, think the shop that wired it did something wrong and thats causing these issues?

Also- ground diagram? Isnt there supposed to be something grounded to the tstat housing? I have nothing grounded there...

From what I remember on my integra, the main relay is on the driver side, under the dash, next to the coin changer. From there there ground wire goes through the firewall and to a harness on top of the driver side suspension. from there the connecting harness runs behind the engine and grounds off next to the thermostat housing. The wire also then continues on through the firewall and to the ecu.

I would start with your grounds and see if that clears things up.

Most of the time the bouncing tachometer is a sign of a bad ignitor.

If your tach doesn't stop bouncing after you check to make sure your grounds are good I bet your ignitor is the culprit.

Yeah I had a bad ignitor before, replaced the whole dizzy with a brand new one... fixed the issue.

But when i had a bad ignitor before the tach would flutter AND the car would lose spark too, also the speedo wasnt crazy when the ginitor was bad.

This dizzy is BRAND NEW, what are the chances of the ignitor dying in less than 4 months?

thanks again!

Chances of your ignitor going out that fast are pretty slim.

At least I hope that's not the case, that would really suck to have to buy another one when you just bought a dizzy. I don't understand why ignitors are so damn expensive. I mean, it's a small simple part and it cost a ton.

Anyways, if your dizzy is that new it's probably not the problem.

ok so i went and checked the grounds:

everything was good except the ground on the alternator (white wire) looked like it had gotten a lil hot and melted/bubbled a lil where it meet the rubber boot....

is this normal? Its not melted, just bubbled a little- any ideas?

are your grounds really frayed? I had a similar problem and went back and sanded down the ground spots to be sure there was good contact and replaced them all with new 8 gauge wire.
