i'm replacing the 2 bolts holding the damper fork to the strut and the control arm in the front and the 3 holding the LCA on in the rear, so 10 alltogether, but i'm not sure what grade bolts these are. I'm assuming 9 or 10? I'm going to a local shop that makes nuts and bolts for like 50 cents a piece rather than the dealer. So are all these bolts the same Grade? I can't seem to find it in my Helms, jsut says thread pitch, doesn't say how long they are either

 

 

I wouldn't use anything less than grade 8 when it comes to suspension components. The only thing you could really do is take the bolts out and take them to the shop to get them made exactly the same.

I would just break down and buy the OEM bolts. check this thread, John Eagle Honda sells OEM parts at employee prices. holler at Gabe in parts and he'll hook you up
as far as pricing, it all depends on the bolt. I had to buy a few suspension bolts for my car, ranging from $5-$15 retail, but like I said john eagle cuts like 50% off

I would suggest you just go threw honda. They will charge a little more but you will know you got the exact bolt that you need. I've bought a quite a few suspension bolts from them, and it's no more than $3 for any of them.

oh well thats not to bad at all, i'll go through them then, that way i won't need to measure all the lengths and crap, thx for the info

 

$3 for all bolts is inaccurate. wait till you get there, I just went through my rounds with the suspension bolts like two weeks ago. but good luck

 

use OE honda. i changed out all my bolts when i did my bushings and i think it totaled to about 120 or thereabouts. it made everything look real nice and it all went it easily.

Yes, for all the bolts. But the ones I did have to buy weren't more than $3. If you get into the HUGE *** bolts then they will be pretty pricey.

120? for how many bolts? I'm going to need 8 10*1.25 and 2 12*1.25 and 2 lock nuts

You'll likely save about $20-30 if you get them at http://hondapartsdeals.com ... Don't forget your "honda-tech10" coupon for an extra $10 off! Also, try the John Eagle Honda route for a quote.

Notice that these bolts have a fluted shaft, and that the threading doesn't start until around the midpoint of the shaft. They are Grade 10...

i changed every single bolt that was suspension related. my car is an alaskan car, so the conditions were tough. the rear has a compensator arm, upper control, lower control, trailing arm, and toe adjustment box. the bolts that correspond with those locations were replaced. the front has the lower control , upper control, and strut fork. the small ones are not too bad. it is the big ones that costed money. make sure you put a good amount of anti-seize on all the bolts so they will come back out later. clean off any rust or other corrsosion before you stick the bolts back in their locations.

Ooooooh... Didn't see your loc...

These guys ship from Rhode Island, US. From the looks of things, it shouldn't be any more difficult to get your stuff than if you lived in Detroit, but the border crossing might be a logistical hangup.

I say email/call them up. They have a great cust svc dept, and I'm sure if you explain how close you are to Detroit, they'll be willing to work something out for you. If they give you the finger, it'll be a disappointing surprise to me...

What year, and what is the USDM equivalent of "SE"? For 96-00 Civics, the Helm manual only shows the CDM 00 Hatchback as the only one with an "SE" Vehicle Grade, and it shows "EJ6" for the Line/Body/Engine Type...

Right on... I still recommend giving the HPD.com guys a call to see what they might be able to do for you in the future. They have the cheapest (year-round) prices available, and nearly every single part came packaged in a Genuine Honda bag/box with the PN displayed.

Hardware is usually well-stocked at Dealerships... As long as you don't ask for T-50 Torx Head Flange Bolts and 15/16" Nyloc Nuts...
