Default witch engine is best for my 99 honda civic si

i was wondering what engine i should drop in my 99 civic si or should i just keep my b16.
i was thinking about a jdm b16 or a type r. i was wondering the price ranges for those two engines. or should i just drop in a gsr engine.

Why would you want to change it? Only reason would be if you blew it or something...

we just had this discussion before, why do ppl buy SI's and spend all that money (9k - 11k) for a car when there just going to yank out that motor, u could buy a same year car a HELL OF ALOT CHEAPER and throw any motor u want in to. waste of money if u ask me if u dont keep the motor, just defeats the purpose of buying a SI

Yeah, go with the OBD1 for those 10hp. Just think, you do that swap, then you get pulled over, hood gets popped, you get sent to REF then you have to pull that motor, put in your stock one so you can pass the smog. Sounds ingenious to me!! DO IT, DO IT!!

The best engine for the 99-00 si's are the ones that are in there, unless you're a filthy rich idoit.

why not spend that money on a turbo or some cams and valvetrane? You'll make a lot more hp/$ that way.

With the Si you get a lot more features, I would go with a Type R or GSR, why go with another B16 if you going to pull it. You should be able to sell you B16 to pay for a good bit and cover most of the cost of the new engine. Personly I would go with a Type R is stay N/A and GSR if going boost.
