Help Help in the middle of my build need to know what this is!
Damnit sorry guys this is my third name that part thread in the last 2 weeks. This is my first time tearing into and enigne and im having the time of my life. Ok so im installing oversized ctr pistons in my b16a2 and while the motor is out i decided to clean everything just like any sane person would do. While i was standing in my engine bay i found this on the ground

Had no idea what it went to. A few days past and now i have the internals of the block assembled and the head bolted on with out the cams in. I was inside looking in the helms manuel and i found a part they refer to it as the "Head Oil Control Orifice."(its on page 6-84 in the helms manuel for 96-00 Civic) It looks just like the part in that picture as far as i can see from their shitty diagram. Im really hoping this isnt it because i dont want to have to take the head back off. I wanted to know what you guys think or if anyone knows what that part is that would kick ***. Thanks for the help.

Looks to me like its the oil control orifice. It goes on the deck of the block. Number 12 on this link.

thats what i was thinking it is. if anyone else knows what it is please let me know. i think im gonna order a new one and if the new one comes in and its the same as the part i found then i will pull the head off and put it in but if not then i dont have to blow money buying another head gasket. Unless you guys think it would be ok to pull the head off and just reuse my new head gasket. the head gasket is brand new. its been torqued down but has never been used on a running motor. Let me know what you all think
i'm pretty sure the headgasket will be fine to reuse again, since you haven't even started the motor up...i even know some people who have reused used headgaskets with no problems...hahaha...so i think it'll be fine.
Save yourself potential headache and get a new headgasket, once it has been torqued down it has been crushed so getting it to seal up 100% after that is a gamble.
Oh, and yes that is the oil control orifice, kinda nice to have it in there.

Well **** guys i just pulled off the head. It cant possibly be the oil control orifice because the oil control orifice is still in the block. Back to the drawing board. Bump for some more help.
