this is on a d-series by the way... i've taking out 2 bolts that i can see which seem to be holding the cover on (the top portion) but it's not comming loose?

This is hard to say without seeing which bolts you took out, but I do know that the valvecover must be removed.

Also, one has to wonder...if you're having trouble getting the top part of the timing cover off, should you really be messing with a timing belt on an interference motor?

 

Why do you need to take it off? Just curious.

And you need to take off the valve cover to get the timing belt cover off.

 

nevermind... i found the 3rd bolt.

 

just loosen the valve cover bolts you dont need to remove it to get it off.
