Default steering wheel wont stop shaking!?

everytime im in the car it happens at least twice and it will stop when i completely stop the car like at a light or stop sign. and then it might go away or it might shake again. this usually happens either at high speeds 80+ or when im braking. ive went for an alighnment twice already this year what else could it be. and yes i have aftermarket suspension. ????

Make sure your wheels are balanced.

Check your rotors to see if they're scarred. This happened to my boys '02 CL - turned out his calipers were messed up. But it only happened when he was braking. Get your wheels balanced - and also, make sure you get the readings from your alignment because I know there are some angles that aren't adjustable on preludes - so check that out.

ya ok thanks. it may be that the wheels need to be balanced because i just put on my all season tires for the winter that were sitting in the garage all summer. so this may help. ur correct about the alignment for preludes. right now my camber is off by 2 degrees. but the alignment guy said thats an insignificant amount.

Rotors might be warped. Take them in to a brake shop and have them turned

2 degrees is a lot. A very noticeable difference when talking about individual camber. 2 degrees is a lot - it's enough to make your car pull to one direction.

Yeah, but I think it would shake all the time besides over 80mph. That is a possibility though.

I'm banking on imbalanced wheels. That will most definately cause the car to shake at high speeds.

i would balance the tires first as stated before. Sometimes lowering your car may warp the axles.

How much did you lower your car? Because while lowering - your could have also messed up your caster angles.....which could indirectly cause a shimmy.

well i went to the mechanic and he said that it is the front rotors that they are warped a bit and something about some tie arm being loose. also he said that the calipers have too much pressure or something and are giving off too much heat and this is also why the brakes arent performing as good as they should. He mentioned also that he cant machine that discs because he already did b4. the price he gave me is $800 for new front end pads, calipers, discs, and tie arms and also the alignment after. is this guy ripping me off???

If the tie arm is loose -t ell him to tighten the damn thing. $800 is a rip off. I bought my pads for $30 - front and rear(ebay). Rotors cost me $20 each - don't know about calipers.

So my answer - hell yeah he's ripping you off.

Buy the parts yourself - piece together everything. If you need some help, PM me.

My cost would be : $20 for each rotor = $80

The brake pads are going for $9.99 right now - this is the same guy i purchased mine from a few weeks ago. He's good at shipping also. The auction has 4hrs left - and there are plenty if you don't win it. No bids so far.

Not sure on prices for everything else. But anyway, if you live in the area - i'll put everything on for you. Definately won't cost $800. Thats bullshit.

I just sent you the link to the brake pads..........its on my last post. The bid is for 9.99 right now - no one has bid yet. And the auction only has 4 hrs left. Bid man bid.

If you want me to order the parts, send me the money, and i'll get the parts for you. Probably $100 I can get you all rotors and shipped back to ya. Maybe less. I know the rears costs $20 each where i'm at - OEM ofcourse.

I got all 4 discs and pad for less than 300, I believe it was 225$ here in the sponsors forum "88rotors" They sent me 4 brembo blanks and pbr semi-metallic pads, but they you can get anykind of pads you want for the same price ceramic, metallic or whatever pbr makes. I believe you can get cheap good used caliper in ebay, but $800 it's a heck alot of money to fix a shaking steering wheel. My mechanic it's charging me $175 to install everything he's pretty cheap .
